Using the Terminal

The Terminal section of your RightClaw dashboard at dash.rightclaw.ai provides a browser-based shell with direct command-line access to your virtual machines — no SSH client required.

Prerequisites: Terminal Access

Terminal access is not enabled by default for all users. Because it provides full shell access to your VM, it requires explicit permission. If you do not see the Terminal section in your sidebar, you do not have access.

To request access, contact support@rightservers.com with your account details and a brief description of what you need terminal access for.

Accessing the Terminal

Log in to the RightClaw dashboard.
Click Terminal in the sidebar navigation.
Select the target VM from the dropdown.
The terminal session opens in your browser with a standard shell prompt.

Common Commands

ls -la — list all files including hidden ones
cd /path — change directory
pwd — print current working directory
cat filename — display file contents
nano filename — edit a file in the terminal
systemctl status servicename — check service status
top — view processes and resource usage in real time
free -h — check available memory
df -h — check disk space
tail -f /var/log/syslog — follow a log file in real time

Copy and Paste

Copy text by selecting it and using your browser's copy shortcut (Ctrl+C / Cmd+C). Paste with Ctrl+V or right-click and select Paste. Pasted text is sent to the shell as if typed directly.

Command History

Use the up arrow to cycle through previously entered commands and down arrow to move forward. Press Ctrl+R and type part of a command to search history.

Session Persistence

Terminal sessions are persistent — if you navigate away or close the browser tab, your session continues running. When you return and select the same VM, you reconnect to the existing session. Long-running commands continue even if you step away.

Security

Treat the terminal with the same care as SSH — commands run with your user's permissions
Use the System section's reboot function instead of running reboot directly
All terminal commands are logged in the Activity section
