Using the File Browser
The Files section of your RightClaw dashboard at dash.rightclaw.ai provides a full-featured file manager for your virtual machines. You can browse directories, upload, download, create folders, edit files, and rename or delete items — all from your browser, no SSH required.
Accessing the File Browser
- Log in to the RightClaw dashboard.
- Click Files in the sidebar navigation.
- Select the target VM from the dropdown at the top of the page.
Dual-Pane Navigation
The file browser uses a dual-pane layout — the left pane shows your local file system and the right pane shows the remote VM. This makes it easy to transfer files between locations and compare directories without switching back and forth.
Browsing Folders
Navigate by clicking folder names. The current path is displayed at the top of the pane — click any segment to jump back to that directory. Use the parent directory button to move up one level.
Uploading Files
- Navigate to the destination folder on the remote pane.
- Click Upload or drag and drop the file onto the remote pane.
- Wait for the progress indicator to show completion.
Maximum file size for uploads is 10 MB. For larger files, use SSH with scp or rsync.
Downloading Files
Select a file in the remote pane, click Download, and your browser saves it to the default download location.
Creating Folders and Files
- New folder — Click Create Folder, enter the name, and confirm.
- New file — Click Create File, enter the file name with extension (e.g.,
config.json), then edit inline.
Editing Files
Click any text file to open the built-in editor. It supports syntax highlighting for JavaScript, Python, JSON, YAML, HTML, CSS, and shell scripts. Changes save directly to the VM when you click Save.
Renaming and Deleting
- Rename — Select the item, click Rename, enter the new name, and confirm.
- Delete — Select the item, click Delete, and confirm. Deletions are permanent — daily backups provide a safety net.
Tips
- For files larger than 10 MB, use SSH with
scporrsync - Avoid editing critical system files through the browser — use SSH for system-level changes
