Connecting a Messaging Channel
One of OpenClaw's core features is the ability to connect AI agents to the messaging platforms you already use. RightClaw supports a wide range of channels, so your agents can respond wherever your conversations happen.
Supported Channels
RightClaw supports the following messaging platforms:
- Discord — Connect a Discord bot to respond in servers and DMs.
- Telegram — The simplest channel to set up. Just create a bot via BotFather and paste the token.
- Signal — Private, end-to-end encrypted messaging via the Signal CLI.
- WhatsApp — Connect via the WhatsApp Business API for customer-facing automation.
- Slack — Add a Slack app to your workspace for team-based AI interactions.
- iMessage — Connect an Apple ID for blue-bubble messaging on macOS.
- Matrix — Open-source, federated messaging protocol support.
- Microsoft Teams — Enterprise chat integration for Office 365 environments.
- Google Chat — Connect to Google Workspace chat spaces.
- Zalo — Popular Vietnamese messaging platform support.
How to Connect a Channel
To connect a messaging channel to your RightClaw instance:
- Log in to the dashboard at dash.rightclaw.ai.
- Navigate to Settings from the sidebar.
- Select Integrations.
- Choose the channel you want to connect.
- Follow the provider-specific instructions displayed on screen — typically this involves pasting a bot token, authorising an app, or scanning a QR code.
- Save your configuration.
Once connected, your AI agents can send and receive messages on that channel. You can connect multiple channels simultaneously and assign different agents to different platforms.
Telegram: The Easiest Channel to Start With
If you are setting up your first channel, Telegram is the fastest option. You do not need a business account or app review process:
- Open Telegram and search for @BotFather.
- Send the command
/newbotand follow the prompts to name your bot. - Copy the API token BotFather gives you.
- In the RightClaw dashboard, go to Settings → Integrations → Telegram.
- Paste the bot token and save.
Your bot is now live and ready to receive messages. Start a conversation with it in Telegram to test the connection.
Channel-Specific Notes
- WhatsApp and Microsoft Teams require business account setup with the respective platform before connecting.
- iMessage requires a Mac with an always-on connection for the bridge to function.
- Slack requires creating a Slack app in the Slack API dashboard and installing it to your workspace.
- Signal requires a registered phone number for the Signal CLI.
