Connecting Your AI Model
RightClaw is a hosting platform for AI agents — it does not bundle an LLM. Instead, you bring your own API key from your preferred AI provider. This gives you full control over which models your agents use and what you pay for token usage.
How the Bring-Your-Own Model Works
When you create or configure an AI agent in RightClaw, you specify which model it should use and provide the corresponding API key. RightClaw forwards requests to the provider on your behalf and routes responses back through your connected messaging channels. You are billed directly by the provider for token usage — Right Servers does not add any markup or intermediary fees.
Supported Providers
RightClaw supports any AI provider that is compatible with OpenClaw. Common choices include:
- Anthropic — Claude family of models (Claude Sonnet, Claude Opus, etc.)
- OpenAI — GPT family of models (GPT-4, GPT-4o, etc.)
- DeepSeek — DeepSeek Coder and reasoning models
- Google Gemini — Gemini Pro, Gemini Flash, and other Google AI models
- Any OpenClaw-compatible provider — If OpenClaw supports it, RightClaw can route to it.
Adding Your API Key
To connect your AI model:
- Log in to the dashboard at dash.rightclaw.ai.
- Navigate to Settings from the sidebar.
- Find the Integrations or API Keys section.
- Select your provider from the list of supported services.
- Paste your API key into the provided field and save.
Your API key is stored securely and encrypted at rest. It is never exposed in API responses, logs, or the dashboard interface.
Cost Control
Because you pay the provider directly, you have full visibility into your costs. The dashboard's Costs section shows token usage broken down by model and agent, with filtering by time period (24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or all time). This helps you:
- Identify which agents consume the most tokens.
- Compare costs across different models.
- Set budgets and adjust agent configurations to optimise spending.
If you want to switch providers, simply add the new API key in Settings and update your agent's model configuration. No migration is needed — your agents and sessions remain intact.
Getting an API Key
If you do not already have an API key, obtain one directly from your chosen provider's developer portal. Each provider has its own signup process and pricing. Once you have the key, follow the steps above to connect it in RightClaw.
