You can reboot your VPS or dedicated server directly from the client portal without needing SSH access, or from the command line if you prefer.
Rebooting from the Client Portal
The AutoVM control panel provides power management buttons for your VPS:
- Log in to the client portal.
- Go to Services → My Services and click on your VPS service.
- The service detail page displays an embedded control panel overview with action buttons.
- Click the Reboot button to restart your server.
- Confirm the action when prompted.
Other available power actions in the same panel:
- Start — powers on a stopped server
- Stop — gracefully shuts down the server
- Console — opens a noVNC console in your browser for direct access
The reboot process typically takes less than a minute. The server status indicator will show the current state (Online/Offline) during the process.
Rebooting via SSH
If you have SSH access and prefer the command line:
- Soft reboot:
sudo rebootorshutdown -r now - Forced reboot (if unresponsive):
reboot -f— use only as a last resort
If the Server Is Unresponsive
If your server is completely unresponsive and SSH is not working, use the Stop then Start buttons in the control panel for a hard power cycle. If the control panel buttons do not work, open a support ticket from the client portal or email support@rightservers.com.
